The Third Wednesday of Eastertide Good morning! I hope this morning finds you doing well. I myself am doing all right thus far today. At the same time it’s being impressed on me how easy it is to slip into long established patterns that don’t serve the current situation. In this case I’m referring to living by the assumption that I don’t need to stay in touch with folks – (assuming) I’ll see them soon enough, just as a matter of course. Which of course is not the case of late. It doesn’t help to have an endless parade of ‘urgent’ issues lobbying for my energy and attention here at ‘Quarantine Headquarters.’ I hope I’m alone in that struggle and that you all are continuing to live out your resolve to remain well in touch with each other, with family, friends, neighbors, etc. But I’m pretty sure we are all adjusting to our circumstances with varying levels of success, sometimes because of the difficulties that we were dealing with before the coronavirus mess began, sometimes because things we’ve been able to avoid are suddenly unavoidable, sometimes because we didn’t sleep well or forgot to eat lunch … And there’s not much to do but notice, pray for forgiveness as necessary, pray for strength and spirits to keep on, and then keep on. And thus, by the grace of God, we continue to bounce toward Graceland (see yesterday) ... The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you in these moments and always.
