Vision Statement

"Be a congregation flourishing in God’s love, by helping people become their best in Christ."
- Vision Statement
Approved by the Session of NPC in October 2017

"See I am making all things new." Revelations 21:5
Vision Values - Help us envision the future direction of Northminster Presbyterian Church
1. Christ-Centered: Continually seeking transformation with Christ as our model and the Bible as our guide, and prayerfully reaching out to and welcoming people of all backgrounds.

2. Involved: Be a church that is attentive to the needs of the surrounding community and actively engaged in serving those living there.

3. Relational:
Be a church that emanates the love of Christ through meaningful and empathetic relationships.

4. Multi-Ethnic & Multi-Generational:
Be a congregation that values the abilities and life experiences that multiple generations and diversity of cultures bring to the Northminster community.

5. Family-Strengthening:
Be a church that fosters healthy family relationships, and mentors young people throughout their developmental years and young adult lives.

6.
Blended Worship Services: Provide a vibrant blended worship service led by the Holy Spirit – including topical conversational preaching that is relevant to our diverse community that features elements of contemporary and traditional music-styles.

"Our citizenship is in heaven,
and it is from there that we are expecting a Savior,
the Lord Jesus Christ." Philippians 3:20

Background of the Vision Statement

In late August 2017, the Session of NPC commissioned the formation of the Ad Hoc Strategic Ministry Plan Committee (SMPC) to begin working on a 3-Year Strategic Ministry Plan to help revitalize NPC.  The Session recognized that we needed to recognize a break from our past, and work towards envisioning what a "New NPC" might look like.

NPC members Ward Palmer (as moderator, Baby Boomer) Virginia Lundstrom (Silent Generation), Fionah Lopez (Gen-X), and Joey Torres (Millennial) were recruited to serve on the Ad Hoc Strategic Ministry Plan Committee.  They met weekly; sometimes at 7:30 am before church or in the evening during the week.  Sharing their love for NPC through stories, insights, tears, and joys, they immersed themselves in their work.

Their first task was to take the draft of the Growth Strategy Vision Statement that the Session of NPC initiated in June 2017, and edit and improve it.

An appreciative Session received and approved the Growth Strategy Vision Statement from the SMPC in October 2017.

The Growth Strategy Vision Statement was presented at the October 2017 Town Hall meeting and was positively received.

The Vision Statement

The Vision Statement is about envisioning the future direction of Northminster Presbyterian Church (NPC) and gives us our guiding values.

We realize that God is constantly Creating and Re-Creating by redeeming fallen and broken people, churches, and cities. That is God's Story and Mission in the world. NPC desires to join God today and in the future to worship and serve God with joy and liberating abandon.

We join Jesus Christ's mission on the earth to alleviate human suffering and develop pathways to human flourishing.

Next Step: 3-Year Strategic Ministry Plan

Ad Hoc Strategic Ministry Plan Committee (SMPC) was asked by the Session (NPC's Board of Elders) to continue the second part of their charge to come up with an actionable 3-year Strategic Ministry Plan.
“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"
- Jesus   From Matthew 22:37-39
